Since 1979, Otter Creek Music Festival has provided world-class chamber music of all kinds for the benefit of the communities along the banks of Otter Creek.
Originally known as the Salisbury Summer Series, OCMF was founded by Middlebury professor Glenn Andres in collaboration with the Salisbury Congregational Church and Point CounterPoint Camp to celebrate the church’s 140th anniversary. After 43 incredible years, Glenn handed over the reins to musician and arts administrator Joshua Glassman in 2022, who expanded the series into a festival while keeping its welcoming, community-focused spirit.
OCMF offers a vibrant mix of classical, folk, jazz, and theatrical productions. Notable performances include the final public performance of legendary cellist Elsa Hilger and multiple appearances by Metropolitan Opera mezzo-soprano Meredith Parsons. A 60+ year partnership with Point CounterPoint Camp continues to bring top-tier talent to the historic Salisbury Meeting House throughout the summer. In 2023, OCMF expanded its reach by offering performances in locations beyond Salisbury, reflecting its renewed mission to bring live music to more communities. A year later, the Festival marked a major milestone by becoming an independent nonprofit. Now firmly in this exciting new chapter, OCMF is poised to grow into the region’s premier summer chamber music series, sharing outstanding acoustic performances in towns along Otter Creek from Rutland to Vergennes and beyond! |
